Are there other useful sources?
The Klexikon is a German-language encyclopaedia for children. It covers all sorts of subjects and is written by young people and adults. Klexikon is free to use.
Under Wissen, the Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung offers several free encyclopaedias on politics, economics and geography, which can be searched together or one at a time. An all-round package for general knowledge, comprising:
